I started to run again yesterday! Feel proud and motivated. I'm taking Fenja with me so she gets well exercised too. I think I will start slow with four runs each week. Not to much, nor to little. It will keep me going and yet leave some time to rest and build up my body for more heavy training in the future.
The Voynich Manuscript
The Voynich manuscript is an illustrated codex hand-written in an unknown writing system.
All attempts at deciphering its contents have been unsuccessful. And it's not like some idiot just scribbled a bunch of nonsense on paper it is actually an organized book with a consistent script, discernible organization and detailed illustrations. The text is written from left to right, and most of the pages have illustrations or diagrams.
Back in 1912 in a crumbling Jesuit college near Rome, an antiquarian bookseller called Wilfrid Voynich bought a mysterious enciphered handwritten book. Despite its length ( Some of the pages are missing, but about 240 remain) it was an ugly, badly-painted little thing, for sure: but its strange text and drawings caught his imagination — and that was that.
It appears to be a real language--just one that nobody has seen before. And it really does appear to mean something. But nobody knows what.
Pea plant
When 75-year-old veggie lover Ron Sveden of Brewster, Mass. began suffering from pneumonia and other problems, he sought medical attention. An X-ray revealed a suspicious growth that doctors suspected was cancer. But samples of the mass revealed that it was actually a pea plant that had sprouted in his windpipe. Sveden recovered after doctors removed the plant. (WHDH)
Draco Volans
Draco Volans, Philippines. Draco volans, or the Flying Dragon, is a member of the genus of gliding lizards Draco. It can spread out folds of skin attached to its movable ribs to form "wings" that it uses to glide from tree to tree over distances upwards of 8 meters (25 feet); however, like all modern reptiles, it lacks the ability to sustain powered flight, and is capable only of gliding. Its wings are brightly colored with orange, red and blue spots and stripes, and they provide camouflage
Sharks Get Cancer
Images (a) and (b) show the tumor on the great white shark, while (c) and (d) show tumors on the bronze whaler shark.
Painting in progress
I'm working (but not fast enough) for an upcoming exhibition. I'm both excited and scared.
It is no big studio which feels comforting. But it is still a big deal to me. To show all your work, get criticized and judged. As an artist, if I might call myself that (?) it is necessary to show your projects in public.
Yet I'm afraid of peoples opinions. You can't possibly please each and everyone in this world. Certainly not with art, since it can be so diffrent from artist to artist and peoples taste vary - that's just the way it is. (Need to tell myself this)...
